Virginia’s Briede Family Vineyards Wins Bronze Medal at Prestigious World Championships of Champagne & Sparkling Wine

Winchester, VA – September 16, 2025 – Briede Family Vineyards, a boutique winery nestled in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, is proud to announce that its Sparkling Winchester 2021 has earned a Bronze Medal at the prestigious 2025 World Championships of Champagne & Sparkling Wine in England.  This is our second year winning a bronze medal.

This internationally renowned competition brings together the most celebrated Champagne houses of France alongside top sparkling wine producers from around the globe.

What makes this achievement especially groundbreaking is the grape behind the wine: Cayuga White, a French-American hybrid rarely seen in traditional sparkling competitions.

Produced using the traditional méthode champenoise, Sparkling Winchester 2021 showcases the remarkable potential of Cayuga White to produce elegant, world-class sparkling wines—and highlights the innovation and dedication of Virginia’s wine community.
