Celebrating the Journey of Our Vines at Briedé Family Vineyard

A Season of Growth and Challenges

It feels like just yesterday we were celebrating bud break and carefully protecting our vines from a chilly spring night. We were thrilled to finally see a healthy crop in our La Crescent and Marquette without frost damage—such a rare blessing! Yet, as nature reminds us, the journey of the vine is never without challenges. Rain during pollination reduced berry development in some areas, leaving a few clusters just a quarter of their usual weight. While not all blocks were affected, we did experience some loss.

Now, harvest is only weeks away. Though we are running about two weeks behind, our vines are basking in sunny days, dry weather, and cool evenings—a perfect recipe for ripening. We’ll be looking carefully to ensure the grapes reach just the right balance for crafting exceptional wines.

Exciting New Beginnings

This season also brings exciting new beginnings for us. With the completion of our new Great Room, guests will soon enjoy a warm and inviting space this fall and winter, centered around a grand fireplace designed for comfort. We’ve also elevated the tasting experience for our wine club members through Riedel Service, offering premium glassware to showcase our wines at their very best. Our new menu items have been warmly received, and we’re delighted by the enthusiasm from our community.

In the tasting room, you’ll find several new wines ready to be enjoyed. While our inventory is strong, our unique hybrids often sell out quickly, making way for fresh releases that continue to push the boundaries of Virginia wine. We invite everyone to come and savor these exquisite offerings.

Celebrating Our Achievements

We are also proud to share that Briede Family Vineyards earned 3 Gold, 5 Silver, and 2 Bronze medals in the 2025 Atlantic Seaboard Wine Competition, spanning 17 states including the Finger Lakes. A special congratulations goes to Paul, who crafted and bottled his own Pet-Nat, winning a Silver medal all on his own. Bravo, Paul!
